In SY 2021-2022, an independent third-party analytics company, Hanover Research, was tasked by the School to evaluate the impact of Sunshine Education’s intervention program.
Sunshine Education had consistently higher proficiency rates and average scores on the 2022 NJSLA in ELA and Math as compared to other intervention programs within the School.

When Deanna Elementary School partnered with Sunshine Education, the results were extraordinary.
Significant Improvement in Grade Level Placement
By the End of Year (EOY), there was a dramatic increase in the number of students performing at or above grade level. Specifically, 45 more students reached grade-level performance, while there were 19, 15, and 11 fewer students performing 1, 2, and 3 grade levels below, respectively. This growth clearly showcases the effectiveness of our tailored tutoring program.
Notable Growth for Students Initially Behind
Students who started the year behind showed impressive progress. Those performing 1, 2, and 3 grade levels below at the Beginning of Year (BOY) demonstrated average growth rates of 4%, 7%, and 10%, respectively. This accelerated growth is a testament to the program’s impact, especially for students who needed the most support.
Consistent Attendance and Its Impact
Regular attendance was key to Deanna’s success. Students attended an average of 23 to 30 tutoring sessions, depending on the program length. This consistency allowed our tutors to build strong relationships with students, tailor lessons to individual needs, and closely monitor progress.
